SERV raises concerns about the future of accessible career guidance

The Flemish Government is continuing its reform of career vouchers with the introduction of a career credit (loopbaankrediet), a digital portfolio available through Mijn Burgerprofiel that will give citizens access to career guidance. The new system is scheduled to enter into force on 1 January 2027.

For the employers’ organisations and trade unions represented within SERV (Sociaal-Economische Raad van Vlaanderen), quality career guidance is an important tool for supporting sustainable employment, strengthening people’s employability and promoting workable jobs.

In its advisory opinion, SERV nevertheless expresses serious concerns about the proposed reform. According to the employers’ organisations and trade unions represented within SERV, the new career credit system could undermine access to career guidance.
